2022 EMMY PREDICTIONS:
UPDATED: June 17, 2021
The Oscars had their moment of historic diversity, and it could be time for the Emmys to have their own. New predictions have been added for competition, documentary, variety, structured and unstructured categories.
The biggest takeaway is each acting category across drama, comedy and limited could have more than one POC nominated in their respective races. If the stars continue to align, we could have two or more nominated in each, which would be a first in the 78-year history. The categories that could fall out of sorts include lead actor comedy (if Anthony Anderson and Kenan Thompson hold on), lead actress comedy (TV Academy has to come through for “Girls5eva”), supporting actress comedy (Naomi Ackie and/or Ego Nwodim have to pull through), lead actor limited (“Hamilton” boys have to show up) and supporting actress limited (pending how much they love “WandaVision and “I May Destroy You”).
