2024 Dodge Charger EV Muscle Car Design Teased In Slides

It seemed like only yesterday that Dodge was hinting at a future with some dose of electrification. The idea is that adding some batteries to the equation would act as a power adder to improve overall performance of the vehicle. Look no further than the 470 lb-ft Jeep Wrangler 4xe as an example. Or, across town, the 2021 Ford F-150 PowerBoost hybrid pickup truck, with a class-leading 570 lb-ft. Then FCA and PSA formed Stellantis, and it’s starting to feel like The Brotherhood of Muscle and the high-octane Dodge Charger and Dodge Challenger muscle cars might cease to exist as we know it.

Look no further than last week’s Stellantis EV Day presentation, which notes that the newly formed automaker will earmark a whopping $25 billion dollars from now until 2025, just to build EVs. That’s unlikely to leave room for much else in the budget. And, the longer you watched the presentation, the more you realized that every brand, even Dodge, cannot escape the gravity of EV mandates. That being said, were are given a few clues as to what we can expect for the next-generation, all electric 2024 Dodge Charger.

2024 Dodge Charger EV Details

We’re calling it a Dodge Charger, because as Tim Kuniskis says, “if a charger can make a Charger quicker, we’re in.” The second clue is that the vehicle teased in the video, showing an electric AWD muscle car with a reborn fratzog emblem, is loaded with Charger throwback styling cues.

The upcoming 2024 Dodge Charger EV will ride on the new STLA Large platform, which will deliver around 500 miles in estimated range thanks to its ample size to fit more battery packs. Output on STLA Large platform vehicles will range from 150 kW to 330 kW (201 hp – 442 hp), and between 400 volts to 800 volts. This power output will likely range based on the amount of motors the vehicle uses. The STLA Large platform will also underpin a Dodge SUV, presumed to be the Hornet. The outlines of the Dodge Hornet EV and Dodge Charger EV can be seen below, traced with red lines. The Ram EV is at the top, traced in blue. A Jeep EV is traced in green.

Dodge is hoping to leverage the openness to electrification and “spending power” of its strong millennial demographic in hopes to sell the 2024 Dodge Charger EV and other future electric performance products. Whether or not Dodge’s strong millennial audience is the same sub-demographic that’s willing to adopt electrification is something that only time will tell.
