5 delicious après ski drinks suggestions

Après ski, those magical hours when a day to remember on the slopes is suitably complimented by the social activities and entertainments that follows. You have waited all year for the afternoons to roll into the evenings when you can reflect on a fabulous day on the mountain and indulge in your favourite après ski tipple. Cheers, santé, proost. Let’s raise a glass to our favourite evenings of the year.

Vin chaud

Doesn’t Vin chaud just sound so much more exotic than mulled wine? Those two little words will transport any alpine lover straight back to the pistes.

You can smell the spices rising from the glass of hot red wine divineness from across the room. Take those gloves off and let the warmth of this rather tasty libation warm your chilled fingers, loosen the ski boots and sink into that sheepskin-adorned chair. You’ve earned it.

After an exhilarating day of skiing, there is nothing more satisfying than that last run down to your favourite après ski bar.

Nothing beats being surrounded by your closest friends, telling stories of the day’s snowy exploits all whilst sat around a flickering fire pit. If you are already yearning for another day like the one just gone, drown your sorrows in a Powderhound, tomorrow will soon come around and you can do it all again.

Hot buttered rum

Nothing staves off the chill from the setting Alpine sun, more than the warming boost of your favourite tipple. Cinnamon, nutmeg, ice cream and dark rum, all expertly blended together in one steaming mug of après bliss.

When the nights draw in on your favourite week of the year, no excuses are needed. Sometimes you just require a little something to carry you through into the evening. Put away several of these rather moorish cocktails and you’ll probably be carried off to bed too.

Espresso Martini

Created as a Vodka Espresso in 1983, this firm après ski favourite was renamed Espresso Martini in the early 1990s.

Originally created at London’s Soho Brasserie for a customer requesting a drink to perk her up. You could use instant coffee in place of expresso and either Kaluha or Tia Maria. Topped off with a healthy splash of creamy Bailey’s, delicious!

Spiced hot apple cider

The smell of spiced hot apple cider wafting out of your favourite après bar is enough to get your ski legs fired up for one more run.

You’ll be licking your lips in anticipation of the loveliness in a glass that awaits you. With a basis of fruit juice, you may wonder why you need to wait until the magical après hour until you start indulging. If you’re feeling doubly naughty, ask for it to be topped up with a little splash of rum. We won’t tell anyone if you don’t.
