Players who purchase the Expansion Pass for Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity will receive ancient armor for Link at the end of the May.
Nintendo has revealed that the Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity Expansion Pass will include the Ancient Soldier Gear that first appeared in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Much like in the mainline prequel, this new equipment can only be used by Link.
The company announced during the last Nintendo Direct that Age of Calamity will receive an Expansion Pass similar to Breath of the Wild‘s. This will add DLC content in two waves, with the first coming in June and the second one in November. Nintendo revealed that customer who purchase the Expansion Pass will also receive an exclusive set of gear Link at the end of May, though the type of equipment wasn’t revealed at the time.

The official Japanese Twitter account for Hyrule Warriors has revealed new information about the Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity Expansion Pass. The first piece of DLC content for Age of Calamity will include the Ancient Soldier Gear from Breath of the Wild as a bonus, allowing Link to wear a suit of advanced armor and wield a Guardian Sword, also taken from the Dynasty Warriors spinoff’s source material. In Breath of the Wild, the Ancient Soldier armor reduced the damage that Link took from Guardians, making it highly valuable during the later stages of the game. The only problem is that the components to make the armor came from Guardians, so Link would have to best them in combat first.

This isn’t the first time that the Ancient Armor gear from Breath of the Wild has been used as a pre-order bonus for a Switch game, however. Players who purchased the second Fighters Pass for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate could also deck out their Mii Swordfighter in the same gear, but it’s hard to argue that .
The new gear for Link in Age of Calamity will be available to players who own the Expansion Pass starting May 28. This will be followed by the first wave of content in June, which will add new characters, weapon types, and enemies to the game. The second wave in November will have a lot more content, as it’s adding character vignettes, new stages, abilities, and more characters. It’s a shame that there’s such a long wait between the two waves, especially as it has been so long since the game launched.
