The king of Bravo, Andy Cohen, has shared how sad he is to hear about the loss of The Real Housewives of Atlanta‘s NeNe Leakes husband, Gregg Leakes. The 66-year-old had been battling Stage III colon cancer since 2018. The father and husband died peacefully in his sleep while at his home, surrounded by family.
NeNe and Gregg met back in 1997. Fans watched on the early episodes of The Real Housewives of Atlanta as the couple seemingly got along perfectly, but in 2011 the two called it quits and filed for divorce. Luckily, the grass wasn’t greener and the duo remarried in 2013. Gregg and NeNe share one son together, Brentt Leakes. During Gregg’s, diagnosis viewers watched as the chemo and illness ravaged his body. The couple argued due to the stress during season 11 and watched as NeNe even shared that she was considering a second divorce because her husband was so angry.
Cohen took to his Twitter to share some special memories he had of Gregg as he called him a “wonderful man.” In the tweet, he wrote that he called him “‘Pastor Leakes,’ but in truth, he was a strong voice of reason & commanded great respect among the entire #RHOA team.” The executive producer shared that he was sending love to the former housewife and strength to the entire family. NeNe’s close friend and co-star, Cynthia Bailey, also posted a touching tribute to her friend, saying they would always have their memories. Check out the tweet below:
I am heartbroken over the passing of Gregg Leakes, a wonderful man. I jokingly called him “Pastor Leakes” but in truth he was a strong voice of reason & commanded great respect among the entire #RHOA team. I am sending love and strength to @neneleakes & the entire Leakes family

Other housewives also reached out, including Teresa Giudice, who dedicated a post to Gregg after he passed away. After Gregg’s last remission, he gave a shout-out to his wife, who had been by his side continuously, never giving up on him.
A family publicist, Ernest Dukes, confirmed on Wednesday that Gregg had succumbed to his illness. The family released a statement expressing their immense loss and broken hearts.
