Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing Celebrating 120 Years Sells For $250k

The Barrett-Jackson Auction in Palm Beach, Florida, has several exciting vehicles being sold for charitable causes this year, one of which is an early production 2023 Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing from what’s being called the Collector’s Series. The car is unique, with just 120 vehicles being built to celebrate Cadillac’s 120th Anniversary. In addition, each car will feature a uniquely numbered VIN to commemorate a specific year from 1902 to 2022. This special sports sedan was unceremoniously revealed at the auction, but Cadillac has shared several images detailing what distinguishes this series of four-doors from its brethren.

2023 Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing 120th Anniversary Edition: Details

This special edition CT5-V Blackwing features unique sill plates, including the Cadillac Crest design from the commemorative year, a B-pillar builder’s plate including graphic and commemorative year, a unique manual transmission shifter medallion with 120th-anniversary emblem, and a steering wheel plate with the commemorative year. The vehicle sold for $250,000, and the winning bidder will get to work directly with Cadillac to customize the vehicle’s configuration. Additionally, they will get a VIP experience at the Lansing Grand River plant to meet the makers and current Cadillac Racing drivers. They will also get a VIP driving experience at V-Performance Academy at the Spring Mountain Motor Resort in Pahrump, NV, with Barrett-Jackson Chairman and CEO Craig Jackson and other collectors of this commemorative-edition vehicle.

The future owner will also receive a certificate of authenticity signed by Brandon Vivian, chief executive engineer of General Motors. In addition, photos of the vehicle coming off the line at Lansing Grand River and a one of one limited edition framed rending of the car signed by designer Dillon Blanski. The build and ship date will reflect August 2022, the date of Cadillac’s 120th Anniversary. The total sale price of the Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing will benefit the SAE Foundation, which brings engineers and related technical experts into classrooms to provide STEM education solutions.

The CT5-V Blackwing is powered by a 6.2-liter supercharged LT4 V8, the auction winner will have a choice between 6-speed manual transmission or a 10-speed automatic. The engine generates 668 horsepower and 659 lb-ft of torque which propels the car from 0 to 60 in 3.4 seconds. And, man, does it sound wicked.
