Disturbing Footage of Incident at Kids ‘R’ Kids Preschool in Georgia Leads to Franchisee’s Contract Termination

One parent shared footage on social media that led to a preschool losing a franchisee contract. Revolt reported that a man named Marquis shared a disturbing image of his son’s classroom on Instagram. Both Black and White children were visible. The White children were seated with plates of food in front of them, but Black children who appeared in the screenshot seemed to still be waiting for something to eat–even when some of them were seated at the same table with White children.

“This is truly unbelievable,” Instagram user A-MAC commented. “You better know this won’t be the last time you hear from me on this. Why does every white kid have their food? Not one black child has food in front of them! Thank God for cameras in classrooms because there is no way to hide this racism! In the year 2021 this is truly unbelievable. As blacks we always strive to send our kids to schools in Suburban area’s, but I’m telling you first hand that is not always best. This is not a black or white issue this is simply wrong! @kidsrkidscorporate I’ll be waiting feedback from your cooperate office on this 😉 ,” he posted on Instagram.

Revolt said that the man waited for @kidsrkidscorporate’s feedback about the matter.

A response did come through David Vinson, president and chief executive officer of Kids ‘R’ Kids International, Inc., apologized on Kids ‘R’ Kids’ Instagram account, adding that Kids ‘R’ Kids was ending its contract with the offending preschool.

“The interactions captured on video by one of our families, yesterday, is disturbing and not in accordance with the inclusive culture that we promote at Kids ‘R’ Kids amongst our families, their children or our staff,” Vinson said in a separate posted statement. “We apologize to the family, the community and all of those impacted by the situation, and will use this as a learning tool to remind our Kids ‘R’ Kids staff on the importance of diversity and inclusivity.”

Vinson ended the comment with offering Kids ‘R’ Kids’ corporate office to assist any displaced families with locating preschool options in their respective areas.
