Dr. Fauci Spoke About Breakthrough Infections

Dr. Fauci explained that there is “understandable confusion” surrounding vaccination, especially surrounding its “real world effectiveness” and potential in “protecting you from getting infected, and “even if you get a breakthrough infected up, preventing you from spreading it to anyone else.” 

Luckily, “over the last several weeks to a month, the data would become very clear that if you’re fully vaccinated and otherwise healthy person, the chances of your getting infected is remarkably low, really quite low,” he revealed. 

Number two, “It’s good against the variants,” he revealed. “And number three, even if you do get a breakthrough infection that the level of virus in your nasopharynx would be low enough, that it is extremely unlikely that you would affect anyone else.”

“If You Are Fully Vaccinated,” Feel Safe

This is the main reason why the CDC changed their suggestions surrounding mask wearing last week—but only for those who have the antibodies to protect them. “Having said that and documenting that the CDC came out with guidance a few days ago last week and said, if you are fully vaccinated, you should feel safe that you can go without a mask, not only outdoors, but also indoors that was directed specifically at people who were fully vaccinated,” he said.
