Early 2022 F-150 Lightning Order Data Revealed By Ford CEO Jim Farley

It wasn’t long ago that Ford had closed reservations for the 2022 F-150 Lightning as they prepared for the ordering process, which has now commenced. With nearly 200,000 retail reservations for the Lightning, Ford has opted to take orders in waves, and CEO Jim Farley has recently made a tweet concerning the end of the first-order wave and the order data surrounding it.

Ford F-150 Lightning: Wave 1 Order Data

For the first week of F-150 Lightning orders, Texas, California, and New York have been the top states where we may see these trucks the most. From all the orders within the first wave, the most popular trim levels have been Lariat and Platinum. In addition, Ford has opened the online configurator, which gives us a chance to play around with the different trims and options on offer. The Lariat trim starts at $69,169 (including destination) with the Standard Range Battery. If you want to add on the Extended Range Battery, the price leaps forward an extra $10,000 before you start adding on any additional goodies.

The Platinum trim, on the other hand, comes with an even better price point at an MSRP of $92,569. That’s nearly the price of a Hummer EV Edition 1 and as much as a loaded Rivian R1T. But nonetheless cheaper than a Chevrolet Silverado EV RST First Edition. However, the truck is fully loaded without any real options left to add, aside from accessories like floor liners and bed dividers. In addition, the extended-range battery pack comes standard with the Platinum model, which Ford projects will give the high-end trucks 280 miles of range per charge. Which is 20 miles less than what’s expected to come out of the XLT and Lariat trims.

According to Jim Farley’s tweet, there’s no specific color preference around customers yet, and it looks like we’ll be seeing every color option of 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning on the road in the future. The next wave of invites for reservation holders will commence on January 20th. Ford hopes that having the orders come in waves will allow customers to have plenty of time to consider and complete their orders.
