Television’s greatest will be honored on Sept. 19, 2021, at the 73rd Annual Emmy Awards. In honor of the big night for stars of the small screen, Wonderwall.com is looking back at the fashion from the 2011 Primetime Emmys, which was attended by some of the 2021 nominees like Kaley Cuoco, Elisabeth Moss and Kate Winslet. Our fashion retrospective starts with Gwyneth Paltrow, who presented the award for outstanding comedy series to “Modern Family” that year. The Oscar winner and GOOP founder looked radiant in a sheer black Emilio Pucci two-piece look that featured an intricate sequined design.

In 2011, Kate Winslet took home an Emmy for her performance in the miniseries “Mildred Pierce.” For the big night, the English actress picked a cap-sleeved V-neck gown by Elie Saab in a figure-flattering cut and bold red color.

Anna Faris was the picture of glitz on television’s biggest night in 2011. The comedienne wore a metallic strapless gown with minimal jewelry, letting her gown be the showstopper. Success!

Ellie Kemper, who was celebrating her show “The Office” in 2011, wore a one-shouldered super-sparkly gown on the Emmys red carpet.

Julie Bowen, who took home an Emmy for her performance as Claire Dunphy on “Modern Family” in 2011, wore Oscar de la Renta for the big night. The funnylady’s gown featured silver lamé and a deep V-neck plus elaborate beading.

Nominee Christina Hendricks showcased her incredible figure in a Johanna Johnson Couture dress at the 63rd Annual Primetime Emmys.

Kirsten Wiig’s 2011’s Emmys look was all drama. The nominee for her work on “Saturday Night Live” wore a metallic brown Zac Posen gown with a deep neckline.

Claire Danes looked spectacular at the 2011 show in a sequined Oscar de la Renta dress with a patchwork pattern in different shades of blue.

Taraji P. Henson, who was nominated for her titular performance in “Taken from Me: The Tiffany Rubin Story,” went for a 1920s look in 2011 in a loose-fitting metallic Blumarine gown.

Presenter Maria Bello’s 2011 Emmys look was brilliant. Her creamy white dress designed by Kaufmanfranco had a Grecian-inspired one-shouldered cut and featured large silver sunbursts throughout, making it perfect for the end-of-summer show.

Kaley Cuoco, who presented and supported her show “The Big Bang Theory” at the 2011 Emmys ceremony, wore Romona Keveza. Kaley’s look featured a sheer one-shoulder neckline and a waltz length skirt all paired with a red clutch and red satin pumps.

Red was a super-popular color at the 2011 Emmys, which were held at the Nokia Theatre in downtown Los Angeles. Kerry Washington’s Zuhair Murad frock, which matched her red lip, was especially stunning with its fringed train.

Minka Kelly was the picture of glamour in a lacy long-sleeved Dior gown with a tiered skirt in 2011.

Melissa McCarthy won an Emmy for her performance on “Mike & Molly” in 2011. She arrived in a deep purple long-sleeved dress with subtle geometric shapes that added texture to the look.

Paula Abdul went for major glitz in a sparkly deep blue strapless gown with a sweetheart neckline. To up the overall sparkle, she added a wide white belt with additional embellishments.

Heidi Klum supported “Project Runway” alum Christian Siriano in this creamy beige dress with a dramatic asymmetrical skirt.

Sarah Hyland also wore Christian Siriano in 2011. The “Modern Family” actress’s guava-colored gown looked on-trend and cool with the addition of a metallic belt and sky-high silver heels.

Host Jane Lynch kept her red carpet look very simple with a plum colored strapless David Meister gown.

Evan Rachel Wood was Old Hollywood personified in this Elie Saab dress in 2011. While the “Mildred Pierce” star lost out in the outstanding supporting actress in a miniseries or movie category (to Maggie Smith in “Downton Abbey”), her outfit was a definite win.

Julia Stiles looked magical in an icy blue effervescent dress by Georges Hobeika. Her side-swept hair created an old-meets-modern Hollywood look that was a total hit.

Emmy winner Margo Martindale wore a two-piece look in red, a super-popular color at the September 2011 Emmys.

Archie Panjabi, who was nominated for her supporting performance on “The Good Wife,” wore a jewel-toned Angel Sanchez strapless gown. The color looked absolutely perfect on her!

Jane Krakowski was cold as ice in J.Mendel in 2011. The nominee’s lightweight lamé gown with a pleated skirt was beautiful, but she could have done without the heavy spray tan.

Olivia Munn took a risk with this bright green Carolina Herrera gown. While the color looked great, the dress seemed ill fitting with a too-tight bottom and oddly loose top.

Connie Britton, who was nominated for her work on “Friday Night Lights” in 2011, looked effortlessly stunning in a strapless burnt orange frock.

“Parks and Recreation” star Aubrey Plaza, whose show lost out to “Modern Family” in the outstanding comedy series category, picked a classic white Juan Carlos Obando gown on Emmys night. She upped the drama on the conservative ensemble with bold eye makeup and a red lip.

Presenter Lea Michele glowed on the red carpet in a red gown. The musically gifted actress’s look was designed by Marchesa and paired well with a toned-down pink lip and minimal jewels.

Padma Lakshmi looked ready to win at the 2011 Emmys. The “Top Chef” host, who did not take a statue home that night, was dressed in a gold Giorgio Armani Privé gown with a thigh-high slit.

Presenter and nominee Sofia Vergara looked summery at the Emmys, which were held on Sept. 18, 2011. The “Modern Family” actress glowed in a custom Vera Wang design paired with oversized emerald chandelier earrings.

Jurnee Smollett’s color is purple! The actress looked like a million dollars in a purple chiffon halter-style dress with a plunging neckline.

Brooke Burke’s jewel-toned purple gown made her glow! The bright color of the dress paired with a bold necklace and pink nails was a smash hit. The only way to make the look better would’ve been a less severe hairstyle than that super-high pony.

Elisabeth Moss, who was nominated for her performance on “Mad Men” in 2011, selected a Marchesa gown. She styled it with chandelier earrings and a retro hairstyle that created an Old Hollywood vibe.

Rashida Jones was pretty in pink in a strapless Alberta Ferretti gown. Her low bun gave the angelic look a more retro feel.

Jenna Ushkowitz found herself in a super-serious black-and-white frock in 2011. The look was severe thanks to the sharp, futuristic neckline and high ponytail, but Jenna managed to add a bit of fun to it with a bold coral-colored clutch.

Amy Poehler, who was nominated for her comedic skills on “Parks and Recreation,” opted for a form-fitting Peter Som dress in a deep metallic blue.

Dianna Agron was another star who chose a striking blue ensemble for the 2011 Emmys. The “Glee” actress looked mature in a conservative Roksanda Ilincic dress.

Julianna Margulies took home an Emmy for her lead performance on “The Good Wife” in 2011 in a white-hot Giorgio Armani Privé dress that looked especially striking against her dark hair.

“Glee” actress Amber Riley wore a muted plum gown with pleating and embellished epaulets to the 2011 Emmys show.

“Modern Family” actress Ariel Winter was just 13 when she hit the 2011 Emmys red carpet in a pink gown with a floral-design overlay.

Melissa Rauch’s purple 2011 Emmys dress looked like spun sugar. The overall look was a bit much, with so much going on in the middle of the dress.
