Jeep Freedom Edition Returns For 2021: Willys Throwback Package

The Jeep brand has built themselves quite the legacy over the years based off of off-roading merit. Even the least informed buyer knows that this is what vehicles with the seven barred grille are all about. That said, one only needs to look at our history to understand where that brand heritage comes from. From 1941 to 1945, the Willys Jeep MB became an irreplaceable tool in the Allies’ efforts during WWII. Just under 650,000 of these machines were built to serve during the war, making the Jeep the first mass produced 4×4 vehicle in history. President Eisenhower would go on to call the Jeep “one of three decisive weapons the U.S. had during WWII”. This Memorial Day week, Stellantis has committed to celebrating the men and women in our armed forces by releasing the new 2021 Jeep Freedom Edition models.

2021 Jeep Freedom Edition

Returning for the 2021 model year, the Jeep Freedom Edition package will be available across the brand’s entire off-roading lineup. The package includes a host of visual tweaks both inside and out, which are inspired by the United States Military. Jeep Freedom Edition models feature the iconic “Oscar Mike” star on the hood, matte black wheels, matte black accents, and an American flag decal down the flanks. Opt for a Wrangler or Gladiator model, and a second Oscar Mike decal can be found on the rear tailgate. Inside, the seats are embossed with the same Oscar Mike decal.

“At the Jeep brand, we are proud of our military heritage, with origins that date back to 1941, and the Freedom special editions are a tribute to all who have served and continue to serve,” said Jim Morrison, Jeep Brand Vice President. “This Memorial Day, we honor those who have made the greatest sacrifice for their country and support those who continue to serve through these special editions.”

Stellantis has also committed to donating $250 to the United Service Organizations with the sale of every Jeep Freedom Edition vehicle. The USO is a non-profit charity that provides live entertainment programs to members of the United States Armed Forces and their families. A worthy cause, which also dates back to 1941 just like the Willys Jeep of which all of these off-roading vehicles are descendants.

Now it is worth noting that while the Jeep Freedom Edition package is relatively light on content, the price tag isn’t as low. The MSRP for every one of the new special edition models is listed below:

Jeep Freedom Edition Lineup Pricing

Renegade: $26,285
Compass: $27,090
Cherokee: $27,955
Wrangler: $36,210
Wrangler: Unlimited $39,465
Grand Cherokee: $37,085
Gladiator: $42,015

If you or a loved one are a member of the United States Armed Forces, the Jeep Freedom Edition lineup could be for you. They may not be as unique as the Ram 1500 Built to Serve Edition models Stellantis rolled out over the past few years, but the package is a nice looking alternative. Of course we would suggest that you order yours in Sarge Green, as it helps tie everything together with the brand’s heritage.
