Jeep Turn Assist For Wrangler and Gladiator

Z Automotive released a new software update to their plug and play Tazer JL programming product that provides a Jeep turn assist feature for your 2018 or newer Wrangler and Gladiator. The turn assist feature arguably enables your Jeep to turn tighter than the Ford Bronco and its official Trail Turn Assist technology.

YouTuber Casey 250 released a new video (embedded at the bottom of this article) that lays out all the instructions on how to enable this new feature. In short, you have to uninstall, then reinstall the software, then update to the most current version which, at the time of this writing is 11.3.4. Then plug it into the module under the dash and you are nearly there. Scroll through the dashboard menu and you’ll find turn-assist.

One could say this is a hidden feature as this mode is not mentioned in the product description on the website despite being able to customize over 50 settings. The device features two separate menu configurations: a “Vehicle Settings” menu and a “Live Features” menu. Adjustments made in the Vehicle Settings menu will be enabled and continue to be enabled even after unplugging the device. The Live Features only work while plugged into your Jeep. Turn assist is only available through the Live Features menu.

Turn Assist Comparison

The video showcasing the turn assist mode is quite telling. In a side by side comparison the turn radius of the Jeep is significantly tighter than that of the Ford Bronco, even with its Trail Turn Assist feature turned on. Another comparison made in the video is of a regular donut made with turn assist on and another made with it turned off, the difference is staggering for the Jeep Wrangler Rubicon featured in the video.

If you don’t own a Tazer JL mini programmer for your Jeep Wrangler or Gladiator, Z Automotive has them listed on their site as a favorite product and will run you exactly $329 before taxes and shipping are applied. You can also find it on Amazon as well.
