Loki is called a cosmic mistake in the most recent teaser for the Disney+ series, hinting the series may offer a deeper analysis of Loki’s character.
In the latest teaser for Disney+’s Loki series, the God of Mischief is reminder of what he really is: A cosmic mistake. Loki, portrayed by Tom Hiddleston, first entered the MCU in Thor, and fans were instantly captivated by the mischievous two-faced, smirking brother of the God of Thunder. He has kept viewers on their toes for the past decade with his multiple resurrections, betrayals, and redemptions, and now he is getting his first solo storyline with Loki.
The series takes place after the events of Avengers: Endgame, following Loki’s adventure after he disappeared with the tesseract. In the series, he will find himself acquainted with the Time Variance Authority (TVA) and forced to compensate for the damage he has caused to the timeline. The series will feature Owen Wilson as Mobius M. Mobius, Wunmi Mosaku as Hunter B-15, and Gugu Mbatha-Raw as Ravonna Lexus Renslayer, and it will properly introduce the MCU Multiverse. However, the series also promises to give us the deep dive into Loki’s character that fans have been waiting for.

In the most recent teaser from Marvel Studios, Loki is reminded by Hunter B-15 that what he really is, is a cosmic mistake. The teaser demonstrates the TVA’s apparent desire to understand the intricacies of the God of the Mischief. Upon recruiting him to fix the timeline, Mobius is most concerned with finding what makes Loki ‘tick’ and truly understanding him. However, Hunter B-15 seems to have her own cynical view of Loki and she isn’t going to let him or the rest of the world forget his shortcomings. Check out the teaser below:
The teaser also shows Loki traversing through the timeline, causing mischief, and donning a familiar horned helmet. This variance of Loki seems to be his usual chipper and quirky self, throwing individuals out of windows if they cross him, shape shifting, and wearing a ‘Loki for President’ pin. However, with Hunter B-15’s comment and Mobius’ interest in Loki, this teaser does suggest that perhaps the TVA will pierce through Loki’s layers of trickery to discover who the real Loki is. It also touches on the fact that, although Loki died a hero in Avengers: Endgame, his actions and insufferable arrogance have left him disliked by many. Hunter B-15’s comment is a sharp reminder to Loki that his characteristics have left him lonely, friendless, and persistently out of place among others.
The potential character development of Loki is one of the most intriguing aspects of the series. Few characters have wrestled with good and evil as plainly as Loki has. We saw dozens of different faces on the MCU Loki – from the neglected child festering in his brother’s shadow, to a self-sacrificing hero, to a compulsive backstabber and liar – and those are just the tip of the iceberg. The TVA has been studying Loki expansively, watching his endless forays in the timeline, and this teaser suggests that they may just have some substantial insight into his true persona. The Loki of the MCU hid well behind his magic, but if there is anyone he can’t hide from, it would be the TVA’s time-keepers. Loki suggests we might get a deeper look into the identity of an individual who is clearly deeply conflicted with himself and might answer the questions fans have always had about Loki’s true nature and his inner struggles.
