I would suggest comeback back mechanics, such as very hard objectives they reward a lot of points that only open near the end of the round. You generally want these in games where it's possible for one side to build massive leads so that the opposing side still feels compelled to try and win. I also think adding some other nonpoint objectives would be nice. Such as releasing mobs in the arena, or maybe even tiny shops where if you submit some points, you get something like armor but it doesn't go to the total score.
