PM seeks names of BJP MPs absent during key RS voting | India News

NEW DELHI: Upset over absenteeism by some BJP members from Rajya Sabha, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday asked for the names of those party MPs who were not present in the House when voting for a statutory resolution moved by several opposition MPs was held, sources said.
Speaking at the BJP parliamentary party meeting on Tuesday, Modi asked parliamentary affairs minister Pralhad Joshi to submit details of those who were not present in the House when the voting was held, party sources said.
They said the PM was visibly unhappy over the empty treasury benches on Monday when division took place while the Arbitration and Conciliation (Amendment) Bill, 2021, was taken up in Rajya Sabha. The impact of Modi’s strong words was instant as treasury benches were almost full on Tuesday, although the party had issued whip in view of the debate on 127th Constitutional Amendment Bill.
