Ram TRX May Not Have Happened If Not For Love Of The Concept

The 2021 Ram 1500 TRX pickup truck is $70,000 of everything-at-you at once. With an advertised quarter mile time of 12.9 seconds, it’s a hot rod. With 5.5-foot bed, it’s a work truck. With an incredibly detailed interior and electronically controlled suspension, it’s a grand touring car. And with 702 horsepower under the hood sending power to all four wheels, it’s a nightmare for its competitive set. In short, if you have the space for its imposing size, and can afford a college-tuition’s worth of fuel, the Ram TRX is the perfect single vehicle solution.

And customers wanted nothing more than exactly what we see today, with an unprecedented response towards the original Ram Rebel TRX Concept that debuted during the 2016 State Fair of Texas.

“The Ram TRX Concept generated more clicks than any other concept that we’ve ever done. That was a huge flag of customer interest,” explained Dan Stagner, Vehicle Integration Lead for the Ram 1500 TRX.

Case in point, the $90,000 Ram TRX Launch Edition sold out in a mere three hours. Only 702 people will have the privilege of owning such a pickup truck, likely indicating strong returns on both cryptocurrency and OnlyFans accounts.

Ram TRX Concept VS Reality

The Ram Rebel TRX Concept at the time only teased the world with  575 horsepower, but it did support massive 37-inch tires, as well as twin tire mounts in the truck bed. Both features are something that so far has eluded the production truck. The only vehicle that has so far announced a 37-inch tire package is actually the chief rival of the TRX: the trendsetting Ford F-150 Raptor.

The 2021 Ram TRX Launch Edition sees a number of exclusive design features and packages all rolled into one. It’s only available in Anvil Gray, and only the Launch Edition TRX comes in that color. If you see Anvil Gray, you know you’re looking at a very rare tuck. The rest of the exterior design is is pure TRX, complimented by beadlock capable wheels and bodyside graphics.

Also exclusive to the 2021 Ram TRX Launch Edition is a special red and brushed aluminum badge, identifying it as the Launch Edition. Plus, owners can make sure their passengers remember you got the limited edition model when you rocket them from 0-60 in just 4.5 seconds. That shouldn’t be possible in such a massive truck, yet here we are.

Unsurprisingly, the Launch Edition comes fully loaded. It’s fitted as standard with the TRX Level 2 trim package, which comes fully loaded with all of the TR1 features, plus memory seats and mirrors, remote start, parking sensors, power tailgate, wireless charging pad, and more. It also adds carbon fiber interior trim with the color accent package, head-up display, dual pane panoramic sunroof and a 19 speaker Harman Kardon premium sound system.

Mechanically, the Ram TRX Launch Edition is just like the regular TRX, highlighted by a 702 hp Hellcat V8, 2.5-inch Bilstein shocks, and electronic four-wheel-drive and transfer case.
