It was said earlier in the day that Tampa Bay Buccaneers starting quarterback Tom Brady was “fine” despite the thumb injury he suffered in Sunday’s 45-17 victory over the Miami Dolphins that improved the defending Super Bowl champions to 4-1 on the season:
According to an update offered by NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Brady should be good to go for the “Thursday Night Football” showdown at the 2-3 Philadelphia Eagles. Philadelphia defeated the Carolina Panthers in Week 5:
The ageless Brady torched the Dolphins for 411 passing yards and five touchdowns in his latest victory. Remarkably, it’s been reported he suffered the thumb-related setback early in the contest, but the issue obviously didn’t slow the seven-time champion signal-caller.
Per ESPN stats, Brady enters Monday night leading the NFL with 1,767 passing yards this season. He’s second in the league with 15 touchdown throws, and fifth among eligible quarterbacks with a 108.5 passer rating and 65.4 total QBR.
Perhaps the 44-year-old really could play at the highest level for another six seasons, after all.
