Warzone Season Three Cinematic Confirms Leaked Trailer & Map Change

After a series of leaks. Call of Duty: Warzone’s new map has finally been confirmed as a 1980s redesign of Verdansk to tie in with Black Ops Cold War.

Following a leak, Activision has released a trailer that gives much more context as to how and why Call of Duty: Warone‘s Verdansk map is getting a 1980s redesign in Season Three, which has caused some dismay among players who expected a completely overhauled map. For a game franchise all about classified operations, it seems nothing has remained secret about the upcoming Warzone update’s map changes.

Speculation has been swirling around the new version of Verdansk for some time, and it seems like Warzone‘s rumored nuke event may finally happen. For months, leaks have been suggesting that Verdansk would be wiped off the face of the Earth by a nuclear explosion, making it inhabitable and causing its permanent removal from the game. As time has gone on, a ship crashed on Verdansk, missile silos appeared on the map, and many more suspicious happening. After its presumed annihilation, a 1980s redesign is expected to take its place to tie the game in closer to Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War‘s setting and story. A new teaser seems to confirm these rumors.

Following a late night leak, Activision has released a new teaser (via CharlieIntel) for Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War‘s Season Three update, which will feature closer ties than ever with Warzone. More details regarding the new Warzone update are expected next week, but the leaks were becoming too prominent for Activision to shrug it off. The teaser reveals that Adler seems to be being held captive in Verdansk and the Black Ops Cold War team will have to move in to rescue him. It’s unclear if this will result in an actual Warzone event where players have to track down the CIA operative or if it’s just a piece of contextual story.

Whether or not this video was planned to release today is unknown, but it seems like Activision may have just released it since leaks are flying around in abundance. It’s not totally clear when players can start exploring the new map, but previous leaks indicate that Warzone will get several new locations added to its Verdansk map, including some sort of underground mine.

It remains to be seen if these changes will be enough to actually keep its player base actively engaged until the next Call of Duty releases, as some fans grow tired of Verdansk. Perhaps there will be a massive shake-up in scenery and possibly allow for new combat scenarios, but the exact layout of the map still remains under wraps. Call of Duty: Warzone has been a massive success for Activision and it would be a shame if they some how pushed players away simply by just slapping a new coat of paint on an old map.
